Saint Peter’s University Launches Master of Science in Cyber Security

Mumbai, February 2nd - Saint Peter’s University, the Jesuit University of New Jersey, launches a program called Master of Science in Cyber Security. The master’s degree program will provide students with the advanced skills needed to help protect and defend information systems from cyber-attacks. The program will have two areas of focus: (1) information systems security and assurance and (2) cyber security and computer forensics. The University has acknowledged a global demand for these skills and developed a program.

Data shows that the demand for cyber security professionals has grown three times as fast as the demand for traditional information technology professionals and demand is surpassing supply. The 30-credit hour master’s degree program in cyber security will provide students with the knowledge in theory and practice to understand cyber security threats and vulnerabilities, and to be able to defend computer systems against cyber-attacks. The program is designed for working professionals and/or students with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, business or criminal justice. The curriculum includes the following courses: Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, Malware Analysis and Defense, Cyber Crime Investigation & Digital Forensics, Disaster Recovery and more. The applications for the program will be accepted starting now, February 2017.

In addition to the program launch, Saint Peter’s University opens an oncampus Cyber Security Center. The Center was designed in collaboration with theNational Cyber Security Center of Excellence, located in Rockville, Maryland,and will provide hands-on learning opportunities for students to analyze riskacross multiple platforms and simulate defensive actions from new and existingcyber threats. Students will learn about software/tools that can be used toprotect the cyber environment of an organization. In addition, students willhave access to state-of-the-art technology including Apache: Virtual ComputingLab, CISCO Virtual Labs and Network Simulator, SANSForensics InvestigativeToolkit Workstation, Department of Homeland Security Cyber Security EvaluationTool Kit and much more.
