Manipal University signs MoU with Boston University
Mumbai, February 07: Manipal University, through the Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here on Monday with Boston University, Henry M Goldman Schools of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM). The MoU seeks to promote mutual understanding and contribute to the advancement and progress of dental education and science through educational and academic collaboration, and exchanges of mutual interest and benefit.
The MoU wassigned by Manipal University Vice-Chancellor Dr H Vinod Bhat and Dr NirmalaRao, Dean, MCODS, and Dr Jean Morrison, Boston University Provost and ChiefAcademic Officer, and Dr Jeffrey W Hutter, Dean, BUGSDM. The purpose of the MoUis to establish an exchange program during the 2017-2020 academic years.
The universitieshave agreed to send four students and a faculty member as team leader fortwo-week rotations. The BUGSDM rotation is expected to begin in September ofeach academic year and that of MCODS will begin betweenJune 1 and August 15 ofeach academic year.
ManipalUniversity has many such tie-ups with universities abroad that give many of itsstudents an opportunity to go abroad as exchange students. The universityhas such tie-ups with many of the top institutions in Australia, Germany amongothers.
While suchexchange programmes give the students an exposure to the academic programmesthere, they also open the eyes of the students to a whole new vista ofopportunities and possibilities. The faculties also get to see the best ofteaching methodologies and technologies in imparting education.The fields of medicineand engineering that need a continuous updation of the knowledge are the onesthat benefit the most from such programmes.
