IndusInd Bank launches ‘World Champions Programme - Cricket for the Blind’

Mumbai, December 22, 2016: IndusInd Bank announces the launch of the ‘World Champions Programme - Cricket for the Blind’, in partnership with Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) - Sports Initiative of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabledto aid the Indian Blind Cricket Team in their quest for sporting glory. Under the World Champions Programme – Cricket for the Blind, the Bank will be supporting the Indian Blind Cricket Team, consisting of 26 players that will represent India at domestic and international tournaments. Further, the IndusInd Bank World Champions Programme- Cricket for the Blind, will organise year-long cricketing events, in association with CABI. This will include the T20 World Cup for the blind and partially-sighted to be held from January 28, 2017 in India. As part of the programme, IndusInd Bank will provide all support and infrastructure required, to participate and perform at the highest level, to the players. Under the programme, the team would undergo rigourous training workshops and camps. The Bank will also provide logistical support to the players, as they travel across the country, to share their success stories and encourage other visually-impaired youngsters to take up the sport. The programme will also work towards nurturing talent while promoting cricket among the visually challenged. IndusInd Bank COO Paul Abraham said, “The objective of the IndusInd Bank World Champions Programme- Cricket for the Blind, is to groom the talent and support cricket among the visually challenged. We will help the players surpass their capabilities and cross new boundaries by providing them with necessary infrastructure. Earlier, IndusInd Bank had successfully launched a similarchampions programme for para-athletes under its ‘IndusInd for Sports’ verticaland has also partnered with Madhya Pradesh government to nurture talent inrifle shooting, especially from economically modest background. 

The ‘IndusInd for Sports’ vertical was set up in April 2016to partner with professional athletes, amateur athletes, weekend athletes andanyone who wishes to bring sport into their lives. It aims to integrate sportinto the DNA of the Bank, its customers as well as its employees.
